Our adventurous weekend in D.C

After Bear turned in his dissertation we headed to D.C for a long weekend.  We needed a getaway and Bear needed some time to relax and free his mind from thinking. D.C is one of  our favorite cities and our best friend lives there (see pic above) so it seemed like the perfect getaway.

^ We arrived on Thursday night and had all day Friday to explore and play tourist.^

^Exploring the Library of Congress.^

^Touring the Capital. Bear was very focused on learning all about the statues in the rotunda. :) ^

^On the roof top of the Newseum.^

Friday evening we met up with some of Bear's old high school friends. I'm kicking myself that we didn't get a picture of all of them. It was so fun watching Bear be among some of his old friends. They went through old year books and told funny stories about each other.

On Saturday we walked all around the Mall and Tidal Basin. Bear has been reading a book on Thomas Jefferson and wanted to go spend some time at his memorial.

^Thanks Ryan for taking one of my favorite pictures of us. ^

^ Cheering for the Gators. They had just made a touch down. ^

Later in the day we headed to the bar to watch the UF football game. That was probably one of the highlights of the trip.  I wish I would of gotten a picture of the entire bar. It was decorated all in Orange and Blue and was packed with people cheering for the Gators.

^Sunday Brunch^

We ended the weekend with Sunday brunch and a stroll around the portrait gallery.

beautiful colorado

We spent a long weekend in Colorado. The weather was perfect, the surroundings were stunning (as always), the food was amazing, and the company was exactly what I needed.  i always forget how relaxing being in Colorado is. It’s so peaceful and picturesque.

we packed the weekend full of fun activities, including, a craft show, bbq dinner and bluegrass show, hiking, bird watching, and lots of relaxing on the front porch. I’m already wishing to go back.

P.S I have more pictures from our trip, unfortunately my hard drive is almost full, so until I figure that out enjoy.

our drive to Colorado through the lens of my iPhone

last week we took a small road trip to the beautiful state of colorado.
the 6 hour car ride was fun. i was lucky enough to get to listen to
bear sing me his favorite tunes for most of the trip.
after every song he would ask, do you think i'm a good singer?
and i would respond, of course i do!
the weather was beautiful. we watched a storm roll in and the
clouds it created were spectacular.
after it rained, a beautiful rainbow appeared in the distance.
on our home trip, we stopped at a rest stop.
bear decided that we should climb to the top of the nearest mountain/outlook.
once we made it to the top of the mountain, it started pouring...we got soaked!
our car trip was great but our vacation was even better. more on that later!

Moab, Ut

alright, here are some more photos from our stop in Moab. it's definitely a beautiful location. the rock formations and the bright shades of red and orange are surreal. my camera couldn't do the surroundings justice.

we had a great time hiking around and exploring some of the different locations right on the outskirts of Moab before heading over to Arches National Park. it started to get pretty windy once we got the park, so we spent a lot of time oohing and awing from the car. bear and i both agree that we need to go back and spend an entire weekend camping and hiking.

however, for the short time we did spend in Moab, it was great. a perfect and beautiful stop before heading into Colorado.

colorado

remember when i said that we rang the new year in while visiting family in Colorado.
yes, we did ring the new year in;
we always went on beautiful walks, and a snowshoeing adventure.
i just have yet to post anything about it.

it was fun watching the heard of deer.
drinking homemade eggnog.
snowshoeing for hours in the beautiful mountains.
relaxing by the fire.
and best of all, visiting and spending time with family.

Annapolis, Maryland

The ocean is always such a calming and relaxing thing. It is something that both Bear and I grew up with and we miss everyday, our hope is that one day we will live near the great blue body of water. However, for the time being, it is such a nice place to visit. We spent a long weekend on a yacht in the Annapolis harbor with one of our closest friends, Ryan. When we arrived, Bear and I enjoyed touring around St. Michael's and eating our share of crab.

Later, we met up with Ryan in Annapolis and enjoyed a night out on the town. The weekend consisted of eating lots of yummy food, boat rides, exploring the downtown of Annapolis, and hanging out with friends.

As the weekend ended and we started our ride home, we could not resist taking a small detour to go visit Oxford and their delicious homemade ice cream.
